FACEBOOK WAR IN MILL HILL
In 2018 a large group of political activists were thrown off the Mill Hill Families Facebook group for repeated breaches of the groups rules.
They set up their own group called Inside Mill Hill which though still smaller than the Families site now has a few thousand followers.
The local Liberal Democrats dominate the site closing down any dissenting views.
Their local manifesto relies on a narrative that all rubbish is Tory rubbish, and only they and their project 'Mill Hill Litter Pickers' care about the area.
Last week they were invited onto a news programme on itv along with environmental app Clear Waste and the London Mayor to discuss a fly tip off the A41.
When Matthew Offord the MP pointed out on his site that he had taken his own action on the fly tip by writing directly to tfl from July, the Facebook group exploded with fury. Demanding that Offord was outed to the press and with insults raining down on the local MP. Interestingly not one person defended Offord. Inside Mill Hill is the definitive one party, one view, Web group.
Clever people including employers etc read Facebook. They will realise that far from being a community group like Mill Hill Families the uber Political group inside Mill Hill is a hotbed of political extremism. All they need to do is search your posts within the group. Many people don't understand how easy the search function is for recruiters.
So who is right Inside Mill Hill or Matthew Offord.
Well inside Mill Hill claim tagging in tweets which is not really contacting anyone. Whereas Offord wrote directly to the Mayor. The tfl account on twitter is about the services not the land owning organisation. These corporate accounts get tens of thousands of tags a day. Most won't be read. So we think that Offord claim stacks up just as well as inside Mill Hill.
So the brutality by inside Mill Hill calling Offord 'a disgrace' shows political grandstanding and virtue signalling.
None of the Residents or Traders Groups are members of Inside Mill Hill. Many are members of Mill Hill Families. I'll just leave that as a final thought.
